Die Strandloper is quite a hidden gem 1:1/2 hours west of  Cape Town.  It is a casual open air restaurant with great local food, good live music and welcoming staff. We had a great time with the Searles. A South African friend from HK recommended it as a must do and the 125Km drive is totally worth it.
